People of Bangui

By Air
There are direct flights to Bangui from France, Gabon, Cameroon, London and South Africa. The international airport at Bangui is 4km from the city centre. Taxis are available to the city and the bus service meets all the flights. Car hire facilities also exist at the airport.

By Road
You can safely drive from Chad, Cameroon, Congo, Sudan and Congo (Zaire) to the Central African Republic but it is important to find out about the border status, especially the one with Cameroon that is temporarily closed at the time of writing. Minibus services also ply from Chad, Cameroon, Congo, Sudan and Congo at reasonable rates.

By River
There are government operated ferry services along River Ubangi from the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo to Bangui, the capital city, but rebel activity has temporarily suspended these routes. The privately owned services run with frequent disruptions. It is also possible to hire a boat along this route but it is expensive and not possible on Saturdays and Sundays when the customs checkpoint on the border is on its weekly holiday.
